Recently I was free-lancing at at company that despite the economic downturn was doing really well. The companies owner had serious demands on their part time employees. The work atmosphere was very anxious, and the employees opinions were not really appreciated. I could easily see how attitudes would change if the employees had a chance to voice their ideas and opinions. Business owners should take note to listen to their employees to increase sales. A happy employee is a productive employee.

I think that the customer satisfaction surveys are key to keep up with the needs of your customers. And if your business is meeting those needs. As a customer I don't always jump at filling out those forms, but it the company throws in an incentive, like a discount or something free that motivates me more. In general as a consumer I like for a business to inquire about my opinion. Customers are a business's life blood, meeting their needs will ensure your business's growth.

My dad owns a business and often does a surveys and asks his employees questions about how they feel. I imagine this is a bit harder in a larger company, but I have always respected the employer that seeks to know how their employees are feeling. In addition, employees often make great suggestions on how to run or improve how owners are running their business.
