Tattoos have become the staple of pop culture these days. They are an age-old way of expressing ourselves. I’ve seen everything from cross tattoos to dragon tattoos, and on people from every ethnic group. Honestly, I think it is funny that this type of self-expression has been around for thousands of years. Indigenous people of every continent, at one time or another had some sort of way of expressing their culture through tattoos. Some of these cultures used tattoos as a way to invoke fear in the eyes of their enemies. Some used tattoos to tell stories.
You can even see a more unique form of tattoo use in the movie Memento where the main character uses tattoos to help him remember what is happening from one day to the next. While the more conservative area of society tends to look down upon tattoos, I find them an incredible way to express a unique art from. I’m always curious about the stories behind what types of tattoos people get, and how they came up with the idea. Sometimes you may find yourself involved in a very interesting story behind people choosing to get an Ankh tattoo or even a Cerberus.
