I own several franchises in a large and very profitable chain of pawn shops. Unlike many businesses, we’ve been doing very well in recent years, especially this past year. It’s really amazing how many people all over the country rely on pawn shops for cash to get them through bad times and recessions. While pawn shops have not traditionally been regarded as classy places to shop, I can assure you that when you walk into my stores and look around, you will feel as comfortable as you would in the most reputable establishments.
Our franchise association has two conventions every year - one for all members, and the other for top performers only. The second meeting is being held at a Fiji resort - I’m going to that one! And because I’d never hear the end of it if I went alone, I’m taking my wife and 11-year old son.
At first I was worried there weren’t many activities at the Fiji hotel besides swimming and snorkeling, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I don’t have to worry about them getting bored. There’s sightseeing, hiking, table tennis, basketball, tennis, a gym - in other words, lots of things I’d like to do too!
